It's finally here! You met Shelby + Tj back in March here as I recapped their adventurous Gorge Engagement Session. Now I am able to share with you about their wedding!
Where do I start with this sweet couple and their special day? Tj and Shelby were married on Saturday at Waveland in Lexington, Kentucky. Everything about this day was perfect. Despite a little heat, the weather was perfect, with no rain appearing even despite it being in the forecast.
Quick recap: This wedding was the most intimate and emotional wedding that I have ever had the pleasure to photograph. Every detail was gently planned and cared for, and Tj and Shelby just exude love and tenderness towards each other. With their closest friends and family, these two were married under a tree lit with garden lights and beautifully draped blush fabric.
The ceremony included a time of worship amidst everything. There were tears, many joyful tears, and there was laughter. Let me expand and let me conclude this way: this was a day that celebrated and always pointed back to Christ.
The reception was held in a barn onsite. The couple danced, sang, and even smashed a little cake on each other. In addition to the father-daughter and mother-son dances, the evening concluded with the bride dancing with her grandfather. The newlyweds departed with a confetti sendoff which was the perfect ending to such a wonderful day!
After a time of having fun and getting ready, Shelby and Tj had a private first look on the corner of the property beside a small pond. The two shared a beautiful moment together as Tj saw his bride for the first time. The two danced, laughed, and enjoyed a few moments of stillness together before things picked up before the ceremony.
Next, I just want to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Bride. Shelby looked absolutely stunning in a simple, but elegant dress. Her inner beauty from Christ shined through, but even on the outside there was no denying that she had a special glow and beauty about her.
I can't begin to say how much fun this bridal party had throughout the day. Their excitement and support for Shelby and Tj was so evident and so wonderful.
The pre-ceremony time was filled with music, dancing, and laughter - a theme that if you haven't noticed yet, carried throughout the entire day. Pictures were followed by a time of prayer with the bridal party and family.
And now, one of the dreamiest moments (as if the whole day up until this point wasn't dreamy enough) ... the ceremony. Despite the first look earlier, Tj had a very emotional reaction to seeing Shelby for the first time. That being said, Shelby had quite the reaction as well. Their ceremony was officiated by their close friend Trevor who beautifully conveyed what marriage means, and what Christ means through it all.
After the ceremony, the newly Mr & Mrs Layne took a moment together to enjoy the moment and celebrate. The two spent a moment in prayer and soaked in what they just experienced together.
The reception, as mentioned, was held in a barn on the property as well! There was dancing out back, a coffee bar, bottled Ale-8, and a variety of other drinks. The couple opted for a dessert bar with cake and pie since the wedding was late in the evening.
Naturally, there were speeches in the midst of all of the fun. Best man, Kyle delivered the first speech; followed by Elaina and Jess, Shelby's Matron and Maid of Honor. There was also a little bit of cake smashing...
Congratulations to this sweet couple! Enjoy your time out West and I pray a marriage more beautiful than the most beautiful day!
Below are some Black and White shots from the day and a few of the smaller details.
